Grounded in evidence and approved by the Public Health Agency (PHA). You will learn the signs and symptoms of common mental health conditions, a framework to follow to provide initial support and up-to-date appropriate help in which to signpost or refer. Mental Health First Aid aims: - Recognise the signs of common mental health problems (e.g. depression, anxiety, psychosis, substance use) - Give initial help and support to someone in distress or crisis - Guide a person towards appropriate professional help - Provide calm, practical support in situations such as suicidal thoughts, self-harm or panic attacks By the end of the programme participants should feel more confident, more informed and better equipped to support themselves, family, friends, colleagues and communities with emotional wellbeing and mental health.
